Newsletter - Faith in Tough Times(Dec2012)

[Edition month: Dec2012]

We can see people had been facing trials and temptation from the start of the creation in bible till this time. This could be health issues, financial problems, family issues etc. and as a habit at these time we start feel sad, become angry and disturbed, and some even lose their eagerness to life to the full happily and peacefully. One thing which we see very common at our response at these time is the one whom we call for help. When we face sickness, or come across a bad news, we usually say O God; help us… or Oh God, heal me…  We can usually see only one faithful response which is from no one else but from our heavenly Father. Our Father whom we believe and call had already done what he came for in this world. This includes dying for us to take the punishment from us for our sins.

My brothers and sisters, be very happy when you are tested in different ways. You know that such testing of your faith produces patience.
[James 1:2-3]

There is one more area of this sacrifice which had been made for us, which is mentioned in

“He was wounded for our rebellious acts. He was crushed for our sins. He was punished so that we could have peace, and we received healing from his wounds.”
[Isaiah 53:5]

The moment Jesus dies on cross we had received all that we need to take us out of our sinful and burdened life and receive salvation and a peaceful sickness free life. So we are not supposed to be weak in the time when we are under test, temptation of any kind of issues. Look for this friend, Our Heavenly Father of ours and get a blessed life. Healing, salvation, blessing are all the grace that our God had provided to us, and this grace, kindness is not related to anything that we do or perform…

"If they were chosen by God’s kindness, they weren’t chosen because of anything they did. Otherwise, God’s kindness wouldn’t be kindness. "
[Romans 11:6]

If we see the life and message of Paul, we can see the following reference:
“But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will enjoy all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.” [2 Corinthians 12:9]

All sickness, persecutions, financial and family issues can be resolved if we can receive this grace and kindness which is freely provided to all of us equally. So now how do we receive this grace to gain the strength to fight again and lead a peaceful and burden free life?

“As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain.” [2 Corinthians 6:1]

This grace is not to be received in vain (worthless approach), but we should receive through the faith that we have in us. The measure of faith that we have makes us capable to receive the necessary amount of grace for our life. Receive grace through the faith we have. Faith is the language that we need to speak to get the grace in our life. A small story which we all might have heard... Once, all villagers decided to pray for rain on that day. On that day of prayer all people gathered & only one boy came with an umbrella… That’s called FAITH.

“God saved you through faith as an act of kindness. You had nothing to do with it. Being saved is a gift from God. “
[Ephesians 2:8]

Going by faith — or, really living by faith — is about the free-will choice to trust God and choose His way over our own. And it’s about keeping that faith, not just in times of peace, but in times when life feels difficult or burdened and during times when we want to give up or choose another path. When we fall on hard times in our lives, oftentimes our response for survival overrides everything.

But is that the right approach to take when crisis hits our lives? What about our faith? Is God still God in the bad times just like He is in the good times?
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

Some comforting verses from the Word of God which highlights that Lord is our strength, light and the source of all that we need to have a blessed life.

The LORD is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear?  [Psalm 27:1]

So do not fear, for I am with you; [Isaiah 41:10]

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want. [Psalms 23:1]

Bible itself highlights: “Your promises have been thoroughly tested” [Psalms 119: 140]

So all the comforting verses highlighted prior and many similar are true which had been tested during all these times and even till date. Many things in life are uncertain, but faith allows us to live a life positively and with patience. The truth of the matter is hard times are—hard. But how we approach those periods in our lives determines whether we’ll just survive, thrive or sink altogether. Have faith and receive the grace from our Father and make your life a blessing

Lord is Grace...
