The Divisions of the Bible
Bible is 1 book, but it contain 66 smaller books within it which is divided into 2 sections, these are the books of the Old Testament which were written before the birth of Jesus Christ and the New Testament which covers the life of Christ and beyond.

Longest and Shortest of the Bible
  1. Longest Book of the Bible is Psalms with 150 chapters
  2. Longest Chapter if the Bible is Psalm 119 with 176 verses.
  3. Longest verse in the Bible is Esther 8:9 with 90 words.
  4. Shortest Book is 3 John with only 1 chapter
  5. Shortest Chapter is Psalm 117 with only 2 verses.
  6. Shortest verse is John 11:35 with only 2 words, “Jesus wept.”


Chapters and Verses
Each of the books in the Bible are divided into chapters and verses. There are 5 books which does not have the division by chapters, but only have verse divisions. These are Obadiah, Philemon, 2 John, 3 John, and Jude.

  1. Psalms - Worshiping the Lord in song.
  2. Proverbs - Written by King Solomon... giving day to day practical wisdom and knowledge, which can be implemented in our everyday affairs.
  3. Ecclesiastes - This is written by Solomon.. highlighting the wisdom of man is futility.
  4. Song of Solomon - A song from Solomon, displaying the love between a man and a woman, and the compassion they have among them.
  5. Job - Story of a righteous man tested by Devil, reveals Gods power and presence in our lives.

Some more interesting facts:
  1. The English word Bible is from the Latin biblia.
  2. Testament means "covenant" or "contract.
  3. Moses, He wrote the first five books of the Bible. He is the one who contributed the most among the books of New Testament
  4. Apostle Paul, who wrote 14 books (almost half) of the New Testament, is the one who contributed the most among the books of New Testament
  5. The Bible was divided into chapters in the 13th century by Stephen Langton and into verses in the 16th  century by French printer Robert Estienne
  6. The book of Esther does not mention the word "God"Enoch and Elijah were two individuals who never died but were caught up to heaven
